Journalist reveals length of Jeremy Doku’s new Man City contract
  • Jeremy Doku has had an excellent season
  • Set to be rewarded with a new contract
  • Man City will secure his long-term future

Jeremy Doku is not far from signing a new contract with Manchester City, and its proposed length has now been revealed.

Man City are looking to tie Jeremy Doku down to a new deal, and it is no wonder considering his performances over the past season.

Recently it was revealed that Man City were in advanced talks with Doku, with the two parties moving closer to agreeing on a contract.

And on Sunday, Doku was just one step away from putting pen to paper, in an act which will secure his future at the Citizens.

Jeremy Doku will sign a new Man City contract

According to Ekrem Konur, Doku will sign a new deal with Man City which will keep him at the club until 2031.

PSG and Real Madrid have both shown an interest in the winger, but he has no hesitations about renewing with his current team.

Should Doku remain at City for the duration of his new contract, he will end up spending nine years there.

Doku has come alive at City

The abilities of Doku have been on display for all to see over the past few years, but there have also been limitations to his game.

For example, even though the Belgian managed 10 assists during his first season in the Premier League, he was less prolific.

Now, Doku looks like the kind of player who can create magic without requiring the assistance of anyone else.

Of course, some of his best play comes when he combines with Erling Haaland. However, equally he is looking just as effective on his own.

Whether it is beating his man on the wing and cutting inside, or curling efforts into the top corner, the 24-year-old offers quite the threat.

Retaining players is important too

Man City are looking to bring new players in, and this is obviously important to ensure the team remain successful heading into next season.

Still, Bernardo Silva and John Stones are both confirmed to be leaving this summer, and there will likely be others joining them.

Therefore, it is essential for City to be keeping hold of their very best players, because replacing them in today’s market is a tricky task.

Doku has proven himself in England, and he is actively getting better. So to get him on a new contract is excellent business.
