Champions League winner heaps praise on ‘incredible’ Rayan Cherki’s unpredictability
  • Rayan Cherki praised by international teammate
  • Highlights how he holds the element of surprise
  • Man City star will play at World Cup this summer

Rayan Cherki has been making quite the impression since he signed for Manchester City, and this has not escaped the attention of his international teammates.

Not all Man City’s signings from last summer got off to the best start. Tijjani Reijnders has spent a lot of time on the bench, while Rayan Ait-Nouri has fallen behind Nico O’Reilly in the pecking order.

However, Rayan Cherki has been immense for his club, lighting up the Etihad Stadium with his skilful dribbling and passing range.

In total, the Frenchman registered 10 goals and 14 assists over the past season, establishing his position in City’s first-team.

Warren Zaire-Emery praises Rayan Cherki

After a successful season at the Etihad Stadium, Cherki has headed off to North America to play in the World Cup.

France teammate and PSG wonderkid Warren Zaire-Emery has backed the 22-year-old to succeed, describing how unpredictable he can be on the ball.

“He impresses many,” the midfielder told Telefot. “Sometimes he has moves, he himself doesn’t know what he’s doing. It’s just genius!

“When you have a player like Rayan, you have to give him balls, he’s all the time decisive, incredible player.”

Cherki scored in his most recent appearance

France played a World Cup warm-up match against Ivory Coast last Thursday, and Cherki landed on the scoresheet.

The match actually ended as a defeat, with the opposition scoring twice in the second half. However, any contributions from Cherki now will help his contributions later on.

While France already have an excellent attack, Cherki will be hoping to deliver the kind of innovation which means he cannot be benched.

The compliments just keep on coming

This praise from Zaire-Emery is just one instance of Cherki being recognised for how impressive he has been over the past season.

Lamine Yamal named Cherki as one of the players he enjoys watching the most, displaying just how big a star he has become.

And there will likely be plenty more to come, provided he is given a good number of minutes at the World Cup this summer.

matchday.
