Man City transfer news: Josko Gvardiol, Sandro Tonali and Bernardo Silva

There have been plenty of transfer developments surrounding Manchester City. Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest rumours here on Read Man City.

Pep Guardiola backs Bernardo Silva to succeed at Barcelona

Sergio Aguero’s spell at Camp Nou did not work out, as he suffered an injury which forced him into a premature retirement.

Silva will be hoping to fare better if he joins the La Liga giants, and he has received the full support of his former manager.

When asked about Silva’s potential move to Barcelona, Guardiola told Mundo Deportivo: “Bernardo would adapt to any team. He’s just too good.”

Nathan Ake is receiving interest from Fenerbahce

According to Nizaar Kinsella, one of Fenerbahce’s presidential candidates wants to sign Ake this summer.

It is expected that the 31-year-old will be sold, after a campaign where he only made 18 appearances in the Premier League.

Aziz Yildirim has been working alongside the Turkish club’s technical director, and discussions have already been held with Ake’s representatives.

Man City ‘confident’ Josko Gvardiol will sign a new contract

According to Simon Bajkowski, Gvardiol will not be departing Man City this summer unless the club receive a big offer.

Even then, with the Croatian international costing £77.6m back in 2023, the chances of such an ‘astronomical’ offer being received are quite low.

As a result, the Citizens are confident that he will put pen to paper and sign a new deal, even if further negotiating is required for this to happen.

Man City could sign Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson this summer

It was recently reported that Sandro Tonali could be signed by Man City if they end up missing out on Anderson.

However, according to Simon Bajkowski, Tonali’s potential arrival has no correlation to what happens with the Nottingham Forest man.

With uncertainty surrounding the futures of almost every City midfielder, it is highly plausible that they will sign two new midfielders this season.

Therefore, adding both Anderson and Tonali to the squad could happen, even if it means spending up to a combined £200m to complete both deals.

Man City set to lose out on Ederson

According to Ekrem Konur, Ederson, who has been linked with Man City since 2024, could be on his way to Man United.

Indeed, the Red Devils are preparing a bid which could reach the £80m mark, while Arsenal remain interested in the midfielder.

While City have monitored the 26-year-old, it seems there are other players in his position who have become a greater priority.

Thomas Tuchel will not block any transfers

There will be time to sign players after the World Cup is over, but Man City are looking to get deals completed early in the window.

This is not a problem for England manager Thomas Tuchel, who will allow members of his squad to take medicals and transfer clubs while the tournament is ongoing. However, there are one or two exceptions.

“If anyone has the chance to complete a transfer, we will not stand in the way, but it has to align with our schedule and our goals, which is to be focused and prepare for matches. The last day before the match & the second last day, not.

“Until now, no player approached me. The doctor is ready to take any medical if needed! We are always happy to help to have clarity around the player.”

matchday.
