- Pep Guardiola has taken on a new role with the City Football Group
- David Beckham hopes he will exchange it to join Inter Miami
- Ex-Man City manager’s preference for the future has been revealed
Pep Guardiola has just stepped down after 10 years in charge of Manchester City, but David Beckham wants him back in a managerial dugout.
After lifting 20 trophies with Man City, Guardiola is just beginning to enjoy a well-earned break from football management.
The Catalan has become the City Football Group’s global ambassador, but this is likely to be a less time consuming role.
For now, Guardiola wants to rest, which is something he made clear before leaving City. However, David Beckham already has plans for the 55-year-old.
David Beckham wants Pep Guardiola to manage Inter Miami
SportsBoom have reported that Inter Miami are looking to appoint Guardiola as their next manager, following the resignation of Javier Mascherano.
Beckham wants a big name manager in charge of the club, in order to build on the marketing appeal of the MLS outfit.
And in order to secure Guardiola, the ex-England international could use an intermediary to discover if he would be willing to make a switch to the United States.
Guardiola wants to move into international management
Right now, Guardiola wants to take a break from managing a team, and then he has ambitions to take the step into international football.
After all, the City legend has won everything there is to win at a club level, but he has never headed up a national team.
Guardiola would be open to taking a job with England, Spain or even the US, and Italy have been mentioned too.
It is thought that the Three Lions are his ultimate preference. However, Thomas Tuchel recently signed a contract extension, keeping him in charge for the next two years.
Inter Miami will have to fight hard to secure Guardiola
When Guardiola left Man City, he looked like a man who had just given his very best across a relentless 10-year period.
So to rush back into management so soon just seems unrealistic, especially to oversee a club who would be viewed as a significant downgrade compared with the Citizens.
It seems most likely that Guardiola will choose to maintain his quieter role with the CFG, before eventually moving into international management when the time is right.
Perhaps Beckham will find a way to persuade Guardiola, but it would definitely come as a surprising move.
