- Jack Grealish has been on loan at Everton
- He was expected to leave City this summer
- Enzo Maresca could put a stop to this
Jack Grealish was set to bid farewell to Manchester City this summer, but Enzo Maresca might be about to give him another chance.
There is a situation developing around Man City involving Jack Grealish, who has spent his season on loan at Everton.
The Englishman has been sidelined with an injury since January, so any chance of playing for City again seemed extremely slim.
Nevertheless, Grealish joined in with the celebrations at the club’s Co-op Live afterparty on Monday night, and he could be back again this summer.
Enzo Maresca could hand Jack Grealish a lifeline at Man City
According to the Mirror, Enzo Maresca believes Grealish could become part of Man City’s future, provided he takes up the managerial vacancy left by Pep Guardiola.
Unless the 30-year-old is told otherwise, he will be expected to return to the Etihad Campus this summer, ahead of City’s pre-season friendly fixtures.

Grealish is still close friends with many of his sky blue teammates, so transitioning back into the first-team would not be complicated in that regard.
It is simply about whether Grealish still has what it takes to play at the level required by the Citizens.
Grealish is wanted by Everton
While the prospect of being reintegrated at Man City is exciting, Grealish must consider how this could end for him.
If it were to go well, then brilliant! However, he could end up warming the bench most of the season, especially as City have strong options on both wings.
Whereas the ex-Villa star has been one of Everton’s key players under David Moyes. He has been given the freedom to cut inside and cause all kinds of problems for defenders.
In fact, had Grealish not picked up an injury, he would probably have been one of the top assists contributors in the Premier League.
Therefore, Grealish has to decide whether he wants to be a big duck in a small pond, or a small duck in a big one.
City would be taking a risk by keeping Grealish
Since Grealish only has a year remaining on his contract, he would have the ability to agree terms with another club in January. This would see him leave on a free transfer next summer.
Man City will want to avoid this type of situation, which means selling Grealish now, or offering him a new contract.
Ultimately, he could still be a useful player for City, especially if Maresca allows him the freedom he was denied under Guardiola’s management.
However, Grealish is in his 30s now, and keeping him could lead to offloading a much younger winger such as Savinho.
This could be a decision which comes back to bite the club in the future, so they must plan their next move carefully.
