- Savinho’s game time at Man City has been limited
- Winger could be offered chance to leave the club
- Tottenham Hotspur already have a figure in mind
Savinho has played a minimal role at Manchester City this season, so this summer could provide him with a chance to move on.
Man City could have sold Savinho last summer, with Tottenham Hotspur previously wanting the Brazilian winger.
In fact, Spurs even made a couple of offers, but City rejected them, as they fell short of the club’s £70m asking price.
Additionally, Pep Guardiola wanted to hold onto Savinho in order to ensure there was adequate depth in his squad.
Despite this, the 22-year-old only made 14 starts in all competitions this season, and only seven of these came in the Premier League.
Savinho is still wanted by Tottenham
Man City’s decision not to sell Savinho was a bit confusing, considering his limited minutes on the pitch.
Having said that, he has scored some important goals in the domestic cup competitions, which obviously proved to be of value.
But this might not be enough to keep Savinho at City, as according to The Daily Mail, Tottenham have renewed their interest in securing his services.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side just ensured their survival in the Premier League, which means spending money in the summer is not going to be a major issue.
As a result, the North London club are considering a £60m move to free Savinho from his squad player status at the Citizens.
Savinho could play first-team football at the Lilywhites
Spurs sold Brennan Johnson in January, while Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus have both been out for some time with injuries.
Worse still, Dejan Kulusevski has missed the entire season, leaving the team with very few options on the right wing.
Therefore, Savinho might actually be looking at a regular starting role if he joins Spurs. And with a manager like De Zerbi in charge, the club will be aiming to finish in the European spots next season.
City cannot make a decision on Savinho yet
Savinho might not be the most prolific goalscorer, but he has impressed enough to see City rejecting hefty offers last summer.
Ultimately, a decision on his future cannot really be made until a new manager has come in and assessed the squad.
Still only 22, Savinho could be seen as a player with potential who could become a starter further down the line.
So even though moving to Tottenham seems like a solid option, Man City should bide their time and wait to see what the next boss thinks.
