Bernardo Silva has named his ultimate Manchester City five-a-side team as his stellar nine-year spell draws to an emotional close.

The Portuguese maestro is officially preparing his final goodbyes ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League finale against Aston Villa.

With his summer departure fully confirmed, every single word from the skipper is carrying an immense amount of weight for the Etihad faithful.

Rather than focusing on the bitter transfer speculation surrounding his next move, Bernardo opted to look back at the world-class quality he has shared the pitch with in Manchester.

Bernardo Silva’s ultimate 5-a-side team

His selections offer a glimpse into the ultimate core of City’s modern golden era. When the club’s media asked him to construct the perfect five-a-side team using only his Manchester City teammates, the 31-year-old did not once stutter.

Silva said the names as if he had thought of this all along. And, to be fair, he built a pretty solid spine capable of challenging the heavyweights.

He said, “My five-a-side team with Man City teammates. Ederson [in goal]. I need one defender, Ruben Dias. I need a defensive midfielder, which is going to be Rodri. I need an attacking midfielder, which is going to be Kevin De Bruyne. And I need a striker. Erling Haaland.”

Silva’s future appears to be away from England

Beyond the social media fun, the absolute chaos regarding his actual destination this summer is reaching a boiling point. Fresh reports confirm that Atletico Madrid are locked in advanced talks to sign the midfielder on a free transfer, heavily beating out financial laggards Barcelona and heavyweights Juventus.

Silva himself has admitted he has a clear plan to finalize his future before the 2026 World Cup kicks off in June, prioritizing his family’s comfort above all else. “I want to have a clear mind,” he said.

Meanwhile, this massive squad shakeup, paired with Pep Guardiola’s departure at the end of the season, leaves the club facing a very difficult transitional period. Losing both Guardiola and Bernardo simultaneously could force a radical shift toward a far more direct, transitional system under a new manager.

The final bow at the Etihad

The days of hyper-calculated control in the half-spaces might completely make way for rapid, vertical counter-attacks to fully maximize Erling Haaland’s devastating physical traits. It’s clear that the new system will be built entirely around the Norwegian as the centrepiece.

But those things can wait one more day. Because the last game of the season is prepping to be a cry fest for the Cityzens. Guardiola, Silva, and John Stones, the core of this golden era, will be taking their final bow in front of the home fans.

A decade of dominance. The young fans have seen and supported one of the best teams in the world, if not the best. The core City fans saw the team reach heights it had never reached before. However, all good things run their course and come to an end.
