- Bernardo Silva set to play last match for Man City
- Pep Guardiola will also be leaving this summer
- Captain makes claim about his manager
Bernardo Silva has highlighted two key pieces of evidence which shows just how good Pep Guardiola is as a manager.
Is Pep Guardiola the greatest head coach of all-time? This is an ongoing debate following the announcement of his departure.
Bernardo Silva would likely make this argument, having spent nine brilliant years under his leadership.
During this period, the pair have won 20 trophies together, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League.
Bernardo Silva reveals proof that Pep Guardiola is one of the best
Guardiola’s collection of silverware is often used as evidence for explaining how well Pep Guardiola manages a team.
However, Silva has offered two more reasons, involving other coaches copying his time, and how those who work with Guardiola becoming successful.
“He changed the way I see football. Also nine years is a very long time, so all the experience that we have with him were crazy,” Silva told Sky Sports.
“He’s a very intense manager, a very demanding manager. He is the reason that now other teams are trying to copy his style because it works. They see it works and want to do the same.
“It happened in Germany as well when he was there, and you see the people that are around him tend to become very successful, so that’s a strong sign that the message and the information that he gives you is quite good.”
Mikel Arteta is living proof of Silva’s claim
Arsenal have just won their first Premier League title in more than 20 years. Additionally, the North London club have reached their second ever Champions League final.
Mikel Arteta is the man behind this success, and he learnt everything there is know about management under the mentorship of Guardiola.
The Catalan’s guidance has clearly proven useful, as Arteta now has the chance to do what no other boss of the Gunners has ever accomplished.
Enzo Maresca will hope to replicate Arteta’s success – but quicker
It looks like Enzo Maresca will become Man City’s next manager, and he too has held the assistant manager position at the Sky Blues.
Therefore, he will be hoping to use what he has learnt from Guardiola to build on City’s success over recent years.
Maresca can also take inspiration from what Arteta has done at Arsenal, but he will want to be lifting trophies a lot quicker.
Arteta has been afforded a lot of patience by the Gunners to get to where he is now, but Maresca would not have the same amount of leeway at Man City.
Realistically, the Italian has to be winning titles within his opening two seasons, or else Hugo Viana will be on the hunt for his replacement.
