Ranking Man City’s last 10 home kits – including brand new 2026/27 jersey
  • Man City release new home kit
  • Sports fresh new design
  • Where does it rank among recent shirts?

Manchester City have released their home kit for the 2026/27 season, so we’ve ranked it alongside ones from the nine previous campaigns.

Here is our top 10 list, beginning with the worst and finishing off with the kit where we believe Puma absolutely nailed it.

10. 2023/24

This season will be remembered as the last time Man City won the Premier League, so plenty of memories were created in this shirt. But based on the design alone, it was horrible. The vertical stripe pattern was a bit weird, and don’t even get us started on the v-neck.

Kit score: 2/10

9. 2024/25

The club paid tribute to the city of Manchester with a quirky 0161-themed sleeve trim, but it looked a bit odd. And to make things worse, Man City didn’t win a single trophy in this kit.

Kit rating: 3/10

8. 2020/21

From a distance, the pattern on this kit looked like a swimming pool glistening in the sunlight. Up close, it appeared more like the ground after an earthquake. Puma used a nice, bold shade of blue, but it felt like too much effort was put into making it look different.

Kit rating: 5/10

7. 2018/19

Nike were very lazy around this period and used the same template on a number of kits, including this one. With the generic sleeve design and random lone button at the top, it ranks fairly low in our list.

Kit rating: 6/10

6. 2026/27

The new kit is next up. On a positive note, Puma tried to do something different without it looking completely forced. Unfortunately, the result is a baby blue shirt which looks like it has been through the washing machine too many times, resulting in severe colour loss. But if it takes your fancy, it is available to buy on Kitbag with free customisation.

Kit rating: 6/10

5. 2019/20

The purple sponsor worked well enough on this 125th anniversary kit. Besides that, it was really just a sky blue shirt with a v-neck.

Kit rating: 6/10

4. 2022/23

Say what you want about the centralised logo, but this was not a bad kit by any means. Colin Bell was honoured inside the neckline, and City ended up winning the treble in it.

Kit rating: 7/10

3. 2025/26

Not everyone will have been a fan of the white sash when they first saw Man City’s current kit, but we think it turned out okay. There is a better balance between blue and white compared with next season’s shirt, and it has been worn during two successful Wembley outings.

Kit rating: 8/10

2. 2017/18

On the one hand, Nike’s final City kit could have been criticised for being too boring, but it is simple, clean and effective. No weird patterns and no nonsense, so it takes second place.

Kit rating: 9/10

1. 2021/22

This shirt looks so good that we can even overlook the hideous v-neck. The bold shade of blue is perfect and it commemorates Sergio Aguero’s iconic title-winning goal scored a decade earlier.

Kit rating: 10/10
