- Pep Guardiola leaving Man City
- Players only just informed
- Manager angered by leaked news
Pep Guardiola has informed his players that he is exiting Manchester City, and he is less than impressed by the news of his departure being made public.
The end is in sight for Pep Guardiola at Man City, despite the fact he has constantly played down rumours about his summer switch-up.
News about Guardiola parting ways with City dropped on Monday night while Arsenal were facing off against Burnley in the Premier League.
It has since been announced that Enzo Maresca has agreed to join Man City, and will sign an initial three-year contract.
Pep Guardiola organises late night phone call with Man City squad
With an unanticipated update given on Guardiola’s future, the manager confirmed to his players on Monday night that he was indeed leaving, via a group call.
According to The Sun, the 55-year-old is ‘furious’ that this has been reported only a day before an important match against Bournemouth.
Guardiola’s players are in a ‘state of shock’, as they were told as recently as Saturday that their coach was staying for one more season.
Guardiola’s exit could spur Man City on against Bournemouth
Hearing about Guardiola leaving so unexpectedly will be hard to take for Man City’s dressing room, and it has the potential to disrupt their preparations for the Bournemouth game.
However, it could have the opposite effect. The players now know that this is the end for Guardiola, and they will want to show their gratitude by winning the Premier League.
All Arsenal have to do is beat Crystal Palace and the title is theirs, but if City beat the Cherries, they still have a chance.
After everything Guardiola has done for Man City, his team will do everything they can to finish the season in the best possible way.
And without a doubt, those supporters making the trip down south will be well up for vocally backing their team on Tuesday night.
Sunday will be emotional
Whether Man City win or lose the Premier League title, Sunday is going to be a day full of various emotions.
It will be Guardiola’s final outing at the Etihad Stadium, at least as manager of the Sky Blues. And with the North Stand set to be ready, a record crowd will be in attendance.
An era is truly coming to its end, and what an era it has been! Six Premier League titles, a Champions League and 20 trophies in total.
So no matter what happens in Bournemouth, or Manchester at the weekend, all who hold City close to their heart will be paying tribute to the greatest coach the club have ever known.
