- Jamie Carragher selects Premier League team of the season
- Mostly made up of Man City players
- Gary Neville also generous towards Citizens
Arsenal may be on course to win the Premier League, but Jamie Carragher’s team of the season is dominated by Manchester City stars.
After Monday night’s result, it seems inevitable that the Gunners will end their long wait for a Premier League trophy.
However, Man City have pushed them all the way, despite enduring periods this season when they have been far from their best.
The Citizens are five points behind the league leaders, but could reduce this gap with a win over Bournemouth tonight.
This would ensure the title race goes down to the final day, reflecting just how competitive City have been.
Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville name their teams of the season
Pep Guardiola’s players have been recognised for their performances this campaign, with plenty included in Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher’s Premier League teams of the season.
Naming his side on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, six of Carragher’s 11 players represent Man City, while four Sky Blue stars were added to Neville’s team.

Both ex-pros included Nico O’Reilly, Bernardo Silva, Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland, while Carragher named two additional players.
He included Matheus Nunes at right-back, while Jeremy Doku earned a place on the left wing after a season with many sensational displays.
Man City players continue to shine in individual awards
Along with being selected in both teams of the season, O’Reilly has been named as both Carragher and Neville’s young player of the year.
Rayan Cherki is Carragher’s signing of the season, having impressed with his creativity since his £34m move from Lyon last summer.
Then on most improved players, Neville has selected Nunes, who has showcased his physicality and defensive excellence in a less familiar position.
Whereas Carragher has gone with Doku, who is actively adding more goal contributions to his game, including a good number of screamers.
City are a team of brilliant individuals
Arsenal are set to win the league because they are a unit with a strong defensive structure. Time and time again, the North London club do just about enough to win matches.
Man City are on another level when it comes to individual quality, particularly in attack. However, there is work to be done in turning different parts into one body.
There have been a lot of changes this season, whether that is due to new signings, or players taking up a new position.
The Citizens will be looking to be more familiarised next season, as full team unity is required to win the Premier League, and to compete for the Champions League.
