Antoine Semenyo urges Man City to get the job done during ‘emotional’ Bournemouth visit

Antoine Semenyo urges Man City to get the job done during ‘emotional’ Bournemouth visit

  • Insists City have game plan to come out on top

Antoine Semenyo has given his final thoughts ahead of Manchester City’s penultimate match of the season against his former club.

Manchester City’s visit to Bournemouth will be an interesting one for Antoine Semenyo, as he faces his old team for the first time.

The Cherries are on track to qualify for European football next season, and this might not have been the case without the winger’s 13 goal contributions earlier in the campaign.

However, Semenyo must put his emotions aside, because Man City need to secure three points in order to delay Arsenal’s Premier League title celebrations.

Antoine Semenyo anticipates emotional return to Bournemouth

Pep Guardiola has named his team for tonight’s fixture and Semenyo is in the starting lineup once again.

The 26-year-old has only missed one Premier League match all season, and he will be looking to continue his good form.

Speaking ahead of the match, he told Sky Sports News: “It’s going to be an emotional one, for sure; it’s good to be back, it’s good to see everyone. But again, we’ve got a job to do today, so we want to win.”

“We have a job to do tonight, so hopefully we can win, and then the last game we’ll see what happens.

“It’s going to be tough. I’ve been part of the [Bournemouth] team and we always made it tough for Manchester.

“Now it’s going to be the reverse, hopefully we can win, we know how hard it’s going to be, but we’ve got a game plan and hopefully it works.”

Semenyo is in goalscoring form

The Ghanaian was on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace, finding the bottom left corner after a lovely Phil Foden assist.

More recently, Semenyo scored the only goal of the FA Cup final and what an effort it was! He backheeled the ball past Robert Sanchez, driving City towards their second trophy of the season.

Man City will need Semenyo to have another good game, because Bournemouth are a team who mean business.

Winning is all that matters

City have won by impressive margins in recent weeks, which is really encouraging. In fact, it has proved very useful for their goal difference tally.

However, tonight is simply about getting three points and hoping Arsenal slip up on the last day of the season.

Bournemouth will be a tough nut to crack, and the Citizens just need to do enough to outscore them, even if that is only by a single score.

Then it will all come down to Sunday, when the Gunners would be required to beat Crystal Palace in order to win the league, so long as City see off Aston Villa.
