- Man City win FA Cup final
- Bernardo Silva shares his feelings
- Silva closing in on that last dance with City
Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final, and Bernardo Silva has reflected on his final Wembley appearance at the club.
It was a feisty affair. But it wasn’t a dull watch at all. In a match ultimately won by the finest of touches, following a tactical battle in the middle of the pitch, the Portuguese playmaker marshaled the midfield quite effortlessly.
As the celebrations kicked off on the pitch, the focus immediately turned to the sheer numbers behind Silva’s masterful display.
Although he didn’t have a direct contribution, he showed exactly why the fans will miss him. He controlled the tempo of the game, keeping Chelsea’s pressing lines at bay and ensuring City maintained the lion’s share of possession when it mattered most.
Bernardo Silva sees a bright future for Manchester City
Silva helped guide City to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the West London side, adding yet another prestigious piece of silverware to the Etihad cabinet.
Speaking to the BBC in his post-match interview, he couldn’t hide his pride regarding the victory and the bright future of the squad he leaves behind.
Bernardo Silva: "To [win the FA Cup] as captain makes this one of the best days of my career. Having already won the League Cup this year, this young team have now got a taste for trophies. I feel sure they will go on and win many more titles in the years to come.”

Silva against Chelsea was magic to the eyes
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. But Silva, pulling threads from the midfield like a little magician, couldn’t have gone unnoticed by anyone.
Pep Guardiola trusted him with the captain’s armband, and boy, did he deliver. In that first half alone, he was looking keen on those forward passes with 34/37 accurate passes, 3 recoveries, and 4/5 long balls.
With the latest triumph, the Portuguese now has 19 titles with City. No one takes his name when talking about a world-class playmaker, but he has been the key part of the Sky Blues’ winning culture under Guardiola.
It is exactly why celebrity fans like Noel Gallagher are already demanding a change to the club rules to ensure his name is permanently etched outside the stadium.
Under normal circumstances, a player doesn’t qualify for a statue unless they reach the 10-year mark, but Gallagher believes Silva’s achievements are enough to merit a statue.
Silva’s last dance
While the celebrations at Wembley will rightly go deep into the night, the season isn’t quite over. Man City still have two crucial Premier League games left to close out the 2025/26 campaign, and there is still a massive job left to do on the domestic front.
It’s Arsenal’s title to lose, numerically. But when push comes to shove, Guardiola and his men usually steal the honours.
Silva will undoubtedly look to bow out of English football, knowing he gave absolutely 100% to push this relentless title race to its absolute limit.
