- Man City drew 3-3 at Everton on Monday
- The result may have handed Arsenal the title
- City will be extremely dissapointed
Manchester City will be ‘kicking themselves’ after Monday’s draw at Everton cost them two valuable points in the Premier League title race, and handed momentum back to Arsenal.
City dominated the first half, but found it difficult to create chances against a well-organised Everton back-line, until Jeremy Doku’s brilliant effort gave them a slender lead on the stroke of half-time.
However, an error from Marc Guehi gifted the Toffees and an equaliser, before two further goals put David Moyes’ side 3-1.
Erling Haaland pulled one back for the Carabao Cup winners, with Doku grabbing a second in the seventh minute of stoppage time to salvage a draw.
The result leaves City five points behind leaders Arsenal, with one game in hand. That means that if Arsenal win their final three games, the Gunners will win the title.
David Ornstein says Man City will be ‘kicking themselves’
Speaking after the Everton game, journalist David Ornstein argued that Arsenal are the side who have shown better composure during must-win games in recent weeks.
He told Sky Sports: “Arsenal seem to just flourish in that environment with the wins against Newcastle and of course Fulham.

“But City will be kicking themselves tonight. Pep Guardiola was composed in his interview there, and he kept saying how well his team played. But I didn’t think they did at all. They had the dominance in the first half, but the way they let Everton back into it.”
‘Heroic’ Jeremy Doku kept City’s slim title hopes alive
One of the few shining lights in Monday’s game was Doku. The Belgian forward put in a 10-out-of-10 performance, scoring two brilliantly taken goals and was by far the best City player on the pitch.
Ornstein continued: “If it wasn’t for Doku’s heroics – and he’s been brilliant this season, his best season in a City shirt – then they would have been staring at an even bleaker situation.
“So the title race still has a few twists and turns to run, I feel, but Arsenal are firmly in the driving seat. There are no excuses now, and they’ll be ruing it if they don’t see it over the line.”
The Premier League title race is not over yet
Despite many suggesting the title is now practically Arsenal’s, there is still a lot of football to be played before the Gunners can lift the trophy.
Arteta’s side must travel to a West Ham side fighting for their lives to remain in the Premier League, who will throw absolutely everything at that game.
After that, Arsenal should beat relegated Burnley with ease, but a final-day trip to Crystal Palace will not be straightforward. The Eagles are always strong at home and will want to finish their season strongly.
All City can do now is win their remaining games. If they do that, they could still be able to capitalise on any slip-up from their rivals.
