  • Both could represent England this summer

Manchester City have had two defenders named in the EA Sports team of the season campaign thanks to their outstanding performances this season.

When it comes to being recognised for achievements, Manchester City tend to do pretty well for themselves.

Last month, Abdukodir Khusanov won the player of the month award, while Pep Guardiola was named as the February manager of the month.

More recently, four Man City players were included in the EA Sports team of the season, reflecting the impressive nature of their season.

Nico O’Reilly and Marc Guehi added to EA Sports team of the season campaign

Along with their official team of the season, EA Sports also have an official campaign which is available in popular video game FC 26.

Two Manchester City players have been included, both of whom have become important players in the backline.

Marc Guehi is one, who joined in February, while Nico O’Reilly has been impressing all season long with his versatility.

Guehi will want his big moment

Last season saw Guehi wear the captain’s armband as Crystal Palace recorded a famous 1-0 victory over Man City in the FA Cup final.

However, he was ineligible to play this season’s Carabao Cup final and had to watch on from the stands instead.

This will have been frustrating for Guehi, as he will have wanted to play a part in his first success at the Citizens.

O’Reilly on the other hand had quite the impact, scoring both goals as City got the better of Arsenal at Wembley Stadium.

With the Premier League and FA Cup still to play for, Guehi will be hoping for a similar moment where he can become the hero.

O’Reilly and Guehi will have aims for the World Cup

Once this season is done and dusted, the Man City duo’s attention will quickly turn to the World Cup this summer.

England have done well at recent international tournaments, but always seem to fall short at the final hurdles.

However, O’Reilly has shown himself to be a player who can deliver big moments on occasions of significance, while Guehi is a hard-working defender who is constantly gaining experience.

The Three Lions might not be the favourites this time around, but these two are players who have defied the odds before. Therefore, perhaps they will do so again in July.
