  • Elliot Anderson is Man City’s top transfer target
  • Midfielder expected to leave Forest
  • Teammates predict his next move

Elliot Anderson has long been linked with both Manchester club, and his Nottingham Forest teammates think they know where he is

City’s pursuit of Anderson has been an ongoing story for several months. The England international has been identified as one of the top targets for Pep Guardiola’s side.

This lengthy saga has dominated headlines, with reports suggesting City will beat Man United to his signature.

Those reports may well be true, with several Forest players reportedly saying they think Anderson is heading to the Carabao Cup winners.

Nottingham Forest players think Anderson is heading to Man City

According to a report by the Daily Mail, it is City who will be signing Anderson ahead of rivals United during the summer window.

The 23-year-old midfielder is expected to play a big role in England’s World Cup squad, and may well have completed a big-money move before the tournament starts.

Apparently, several of Anderson’s Forest teammates believe he is heading to the Citizens, rather than Manchester United.

Both clubs are extremely keen to sign him, but City are said to be willing to offer the player colossal personal terms to get the deal over the line.

Man City must wait to negotiate Anderson transfer fee

While negotiating personal terms should be pretty straightforward, City will have to be patient before agreeing a price with Forest.

The Midlands side are not yet safe from relegation in the Premier League, and will be in no position to negotiate until their top-flight status is confirmed for another season.

As it stands, Forest are 16th, five points above the bottom three. However, with four games to play, survival is not yet guaranteed.

This means that while Anderson is expected to join, the finances around any move will need to be discussed once Forest’s position is more clear.

Anderson a long-term midfield solution

There has been much made of City’s planned midfield refresh ahead of next season. With Bernardo Silva leaving, and Rodri’s contract situation uncertain, there is expected to be a changing of the guard in the Etihad engine room.

Anderson has been touted as the next long-term midfield addition, who could become a mainstay in the Sky Blues’ side for many years to come.

At 23, his best years are ahead of him, and if he can continue to develop at his current rate, he will become one of the best midfield players in Europe before long.
