- Bernardo Silva announced his departure this month
- New clubs have reportedly entered the race
- Juventus currently leading race for City midfielder
Two new clubs have reportedly been approached over a potential move for Bernardo Silva as the Manchester City midfielder prepares for a possible summer exit.
Bernardo Silva confirmed his departure last week after sending a heartfelt message to fans on X. The Portuguese international’s contract expires at the end of this season, following which he will make an exit this summer.
After nine seasons and 19 titles with Man City, the 31-year-old has decided to move on and make space for the upcoming talents at the Etihad.
Likewise, multiple clubs are interested in the midfielder as Silva can still play at the top. His performances haven’t declined, hence clubs in Europe, America and the Middle East are trying to sign the player.
Arsenal and Chelsea haven’t ruled out a Silva deal
Silva has ruled out a move to the MLS and the Saudi Pro League as the midfielder would like to stay in Europe for his next challenge.
Spain and Italy remain competitive for the 31-year-old’s services with multiple clubs from both regions keeping tabs on the Portuguese international.
However, with recent developments, TEAMtalk has confirmed that both Arsenal and Chelsea are also strong options for Silva.
Nevertheless, the media outlet claims that the intermediaries have offered the player’s services to the London-based outfits.
They didn’t outright reject the offer. Instead, both clubs were intrigued by the prospect and might consider signing the City captain.
Juventus lead the race
FC Barcelona remain Silva’s priority. However, the Catalan side haven’t been as keen on signing the Portuguese midfielder.
The Italian side Juventus now lead the race to sign the 31-year-old. Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation alongside their interest in Rodri.
Los Blancos are shopping for two midfielders. Buying a pair that’s already played together will be of great interest for the Spanish giants.
Silva’s first and last season as City captain
While offers are tempting, Silva is focused on finishing this season strong with Man City. This is the first season he’s leading the club as their main captain.
The Sky Blues have already won the Carabao Cup and are still in contention for the Premier League and FA Cup.
The Citizens will face Southampton next Saturday in the FA Cup semi-final. Guardiola’s men also topped the Premier League table after their win against Burnley this Wednesday.
With two more titles within reach, Silva is currently focused on turning this into a treble season, as this will be the last time he’ll captain the Sky Blues.
