Erling Haaland ‘super happy’ after helping Manchester City relegate Burnley from Premier League

  • Man City defeated Burnley on Wednesday night
  • Erling Haaland scored the winner
  • Striker keen to focus on positives

Erling Haaland has given a positive outlook on Manchester City’s win over Burnley, despite the fact it was by narrow margins.

Manchester City have finally knocked Arsenal off top spot in the Premier League table, after defeating Burnley at Turf Moor.

City got off to a very quick start, with Erling Haaland bagging the first goal of the game inside five minutes.

However, this would go on to be the only score of the night, as the Citizens performed well below their usual standards.

Erling Haaland is ‘happy’ with Man City’s win

After Man City’s victory, Erling Haaland spoke to Sky Sports and he was not best pleased with the interviewer’s questions.

It was repeatedly brought up that City were not at their best, but the 25-year-old was keen to focus on the fact his team picked up three points.

“1-0 is amazing, I’m super happy, I don’t know why you keep on asking me that [about not scoring more than one goal],” he said.

“I’m super happy, we won, we got three points, and as they sing, we are top of the league! So be happy.”

Haaland almost scored a second goal

Although Haaland won Man City the game, he could have been even more of a hero. The centre forward hit the post in the second half, and had two shots on target in total.

Despite the centre forward having his moments, he only actually had 28 touches of the ball across the 90 minutes.

Therefore, considering Haaland’s lack of involvement, he has every reason to be happy with his contributions.

Man City should have scored more

Incredibly, Man City had 28 shots against Burnley, but only nine of these were aimed on target. They also had 65 touches in the opposing penalty area, compared with Burnley’s 17.

The Sky Blues recorded 3.54xG, so to only score one goal on the night says a lot about the lack of quality when it came to finishing.

Despite this, City have moved top of the Premier League anyway, which is what matters above anything else.
