Kyle Walker has shared how Burnley plan to approach their clash against Manchester City while also making an honest admission about Pep Guardiola’s side.

Many will call today’s clash against Burnley the easiest on paper. However, psychology has always played a key role in deciding fixtures across sports.

Man City, though, are on a four-game winning streak. The Clarets, on the other hand, haven’t won a single one of their last seven games.

Opta’s supercomputer also believes that it’s an easy one for the Sky Blues. However, despite the odds, Burnley right-back Kyle Walker is confident in their approach before facing his former club.

Kyle Walker confident ahead of City clash

While their manager, Scott Parker remains conservative in his assurance, Walker is seemingly on the other end of the spectrum.

The right-back isn’t claiming that a win is imminent for the home side. However, the former City defender is rather optimistic regarding the effort that they’ll put in today.

“Of course! I think anyone can be stopped in a one-off 90 minutes. We need to go and make a [good showing] of ourselves as Burnley Football Club, but they also need to go and show why they’re playing for Man City,” Walker told Sky Sports.

The England international is also ready for the pressure his defence will be facing today, following high-output names in City’s attack.

He added: “It’s not going to be a red carpet rolled out for them at Turf Moor. We need to make it ugly, make the game our game, and make sure that we can put a holt to the waves of attack that are going to be coming at our end.”

Walker understands the title pressure

The Clarets’ vice-captain will obviously be in support of Burnley, but he certainly understands the other side of the pitch.

After playing for a relegation-prone team, Walker has seen both sides. He believes it’s as difficult for the City squad, if not more, at the moment.

“I know what they’re saying in that dressing room, ‘Foot to the floor now, we can smell Arsenal, keep the pressure on’,” Walker told Sky Sports.

“I’ve seen both sides of the coin. I can assure you it’s a very difficult position to be in; I’ve got a lot of friends there. But I have my Burnley cap on, and I have to be a professional.”

The pressure is on for City

Before the game against Arsenal, the Sky Blues weren’t worried about causing any disappointments. The Gunners were the favourites, so the pressure was totally off the Citizens.

However, with one game in hand and being only three points behind Arsenal, the tables have turned. The advantage also comes with pressure.

As Kyle Walker mentioned, it will be difficult for their opponents, nevertheless. This might be the easiest clash for Man City of all their remaining fixtures, but it is still as important as each one of them.
