  • Manchester City face Southampton at Wembley in the FA Cup semis
  • City beat Liverpool to reach the last four
  • The match will be shown live on BBC One

The exact date and time of Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final fixture against Southampton at Wembley has now been confirmed, with City looking to reach their second cup final this season.

Having beaten Liverpool 4-0 in last weekend’s quarter-final, Pep Guardiola’s side were drawn against Championship club Southampton for their semi-final, with Chelsea taking on Leeds United in the other.

The Carabao Cup winners will be going for a domestic double after their 2-0 triumph against Arsenal in last month’s League Cup final.

Plus, with the Premier League title race still on, City could still win a treble this season, having looked well out of the running at one stage.

Manchester City learn timings for Southampton FA Cup semi-final

In order to reach a second cup final this season, the Sky Blues will need to win their upcoming semi-final against the Saints.

That fixture now has a confirmed date and kick-off time, with the match to be played at 17:15 on Saturday 25 April at Wembley.

The highly anticipated match will be broadcast live in the UK on BBC One and TNT Sports 1, as well as the BBC iPlayer and HBO Max streaming services.

Beating Liverpool earned the Citizens an eighth successive FA Cup semi-final place, and victory against Southampton would see them into a fourth straight final.

What can Man City expect from Southampton?

Southampton were relegated from the Premier League in 20th position last season, picking up a mere 12 points across the entire campaign.

They are currently sixth in the Championship after Tuesday’s 5-1 victory at Wrexham saw them leapfrog their opponents into the play-off places.

However, the Saints are unbeaten in 16 games in all competitions under new boss Tonda Eckert. The 33-year-old German had been managing the club’s under-21s, but took charge of the first team midway through the season after the departure of former manager Will Still.

Since Eckert took over, Southampton have risen from 21st to sixth, with only runaway Championship leaders Coventry City picking up more points in that time.

The main threats for City to deal with will be Leo Scienza and Finn Azaz. The pair have a combined 31 G/A this season, and both were instrumental as the South Coast side beat Arsenal 2-1 at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Man City are hitting form at the right time

While Pep Guardiola’s side have not always looked their best this season, they have still put themselves in a excellent position to win three trophies.

The Premier League title race may not be in City’s hands, but they can put further pressure onto Arsenal with a win against Chelsea on Sunday.

Last weekend’s comprehensive victory against familiar foes Liverpool will have restored confidence and belief in the Etihad outfit.

Maintaining that level of performance will be difficult. Yet there remains every reason for optimism among City fans heading into the next few vital weeks of the season.
