  • Man City’s Carabao Cup win has left a dent in Arsenal’s confidence
  • The Gunners still hold the Premier League top spot
  • Micah Richards claims the title race isn’t over yet

Manchester City’s Carabao Cup win against Arsenal has raised questions regarding the title race, with pundits questioning the viability of a clean victory for the Gunners.

Arsenal fell short in the Carabao Cup final, conceding two against Man City. Pep Guardiola’s side, on the other hand, kept a clean sheet, claiming the title at Wembley.

This has turned out to be an interesting development in the Premier League title race. With Arsenal’s confidence a bit blown, the Sky Blues might be able to make a run for the title after all.

At the very least, an intense competition is expected, as outlined by a Premier League pundit. Mikel Arteta is hoping to end an almost six-year trophy drought, but City still stand in his way.

Micah Richards expects Man City to push for the Premier League title

Following Arsenal’s disappointment at Wembley, Micah Richards is less confident that they will win the Premier League title.

In fact, the ex-City defender believes his old team have the ability to take the title race right down to the wire.

“It was only a couple of weeks ago, people were saying Arsenal could do the quadruple. Now they are in two competitions” Richards told BBC Sport.

“Man City, after what they did earlier on [beating Liverpool in the FA Cup], looks like they are going to push them all the way for the league.”

Man City’s Stamford Bridge visit might set the tone for the last stretch

Man City have an important fixture on Sunday as they face sixth place Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are experiencing a mixed bag of results as they have only won one of their last five games, drawing another and losing three.

Winning in London would be a big confidence booster for the Sky Blues, after which they face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite having a comparatively harder end-of-season fixtures, City can make use of a game in hand against Arsenal. The next two matches will be key, with Stamford Bridge playing a key role in setting the tone for what comes next.
