- Antoine Semenyo is enjoying playing alongside Rayan Cherki
- The pair combined to take down Liverpool in the FA Cup
- Semenyo has heaped praise on the Frenchman
Antoine Semenyo has spoken very highly of Rayan Cherki after the attacking duo impressed for Manchester City against Liverpool.
Manchester City cruised past Liverpool on Saturday, with brilliant pieces of attacking play which seemed almost effortless.
Antoine Semenyo landed on the scoresheet in the second half with a superb finish, but it would not have been possible without Rayan Cherki’s through pass.
The Frenchman played another great ball to Semenyo during the game, allowing the Ghanaian to get a cross away to Erling Haaland. This of course resulted in yet another goal.
Antoine Semenyo says Rayan Cherki is one of the world’s best players
According to Semenyo, Cherki makes his life ‘easy’, because the 22-year-old always knows how to find him in the perfect position.
In fact, Semenyo has revealed that he knew Cherki was a top player after just one training session, due to the skills he was showcasing.
“He’s one of the world’s best, Semenyo said of Cherki. “He can literally do anything with the ball, he makes my life easy. I know he’s going to drop, try and find me in behind or play to my feet.
“I remember my first day in training, some of the skills he was pulling up, I thought, ‘What kind of player is he?’ He’s a top player. Creative with the ball and we love it.”
Cherki has become an important starter for Man City
Last month, Pep Guardiola sought to justify why Cherki was not starting, but his comments did not go down well with Man City supporters.
Since then, it seems the Catalan manager has changed his mind on the France international, considering his recent starts.
Cherki played all 90 minutes of the Champions League second leg tie against Real Madrid and was given the same opportunity in the Carabao Cup final.
He then started when Liverpool came to the Etihad Stadium and impressed once again. With the way things are going, it certainly seems like Cherki will continue to be a regular starter for the rest of the season.
