  • Fabrizio Romano has revealed when Bernardo Silva will choose a new club
  • Manchester City have confirmed his departure
  • The Portuguese star has options outside Europe

Fabrizio Romano has placed a timeline on when Bernardo Silva is expected to select his next destination after confirmation of his impending Manchester City exit.

After the FA Cup win over Liverpool on Saturday, Manchester City assistant coach Pepin Lijnders confirmed Silva’s departure this summer.

Lijnders also clarified how the player only has six weeks left on his contract, marking an end to his time at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the decision regarding his next destination is still pending. Still, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims that a commitment will be made soon.

Bernardo Silva will decide his future before the World Cup

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Romano said: “Bernardo Silva hopes to pick his new club before the start of the World Cup.”

Of course, Silva’s contract expires this summer, meaning he will depart as a free agent. He has already been approached by top European clubs, alongside teams from the MLS and Saudi Pro League.

Now, the decision remains with his family and agent. However, the latter are set on a move to Barcelona which would match the player’s own preferences.

City might face small hiccups in signing Silva’s replacements

After the confirmed departure of their midfield maestro, Man City are planning a few moves for the summer. However, it will not be easy as the club face some heavy competition.

Both Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson are on City’s list of must-haves, but Manchester United are keen on both players too.

Neither Tonali nor Anderson have release clauses in their contracts. This stands as a small hiccup in Pep Guardiola’s way as Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have significant control over the situation.

Ultimately, City will have to persuade the players to gain control over the circumstances. However, money will also play a big role, as deals in the range of £100m are expected.
