David Silva has revealed that he is still in contact with John Stones, despite leaving Manchester City six years ago.

Manchester City have had some icons over the years and David Silva was one of the very best during his 10-year stay at the club.

Silva won the Premier League four times, while he also lifted five League Cups and two FA Cups before his departure in 2020.

The Spaniard left quite the impression on Man City’s supporters, so they will be delighted to know that he still follows his former team.

David Silva still keeps in touch with John Stones

Despite the fact Silva moved on from Man City, the club still hold a special place in his heart and he still watches their matches when he has time.

As well as this, Silva still talks with John Stones and he has spoken of his delight when the centre-back helped City win a historic treble.

He told the Daily Mail: “I try to watch everything I can [Man City matches]. I have two small children who sometimes don’t give me a break, but I do try.

“I still talk with John Stones, and when they won the Treble I was very happy for him, especially after he played a spectacular match.”

Man City could use a player like David Silva this weekend

This Sunday will of course see Manchester City take on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final and Pep Guardiola would give a lot to have a prime Silva in his squad.

The World Cup-winning midfielder was so clever on the ball and his vision and control were second to none.

However, the upcoming clash is a chance for new heroes to be raised up, who can build on the legacy Silva and his teammates left at Manchester City.

matchday.
