“So many good things”: Pep Guardiola assesses Arsenal ahead of Manchester City’s Carabao Cup final match

Pep Guardiola has detailed Arsenal’s biggest strengths, as he looks to come up with a way to get the better of them in the Carabao Cup final.

Manchester City could not have asked for a tougher opponent to face in the League Cup final, but winning trophies requires beating the greatest teams.

Arsenal have been consistent for a number of years, but they have often finished as second best under Mikel Arteta.

This could change soon, with the Gunners holding a significant lead in the Premier League table, but the Carabao Cup could go either way.

Pep Guardiola analyses Arsenal’s strengths

Criticsim has been directed at Pep Guardiola due to his tactics in recent weeks, particularly regarding the 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Therefore, it is essential he makes the right calls against Arsenal and he has clearly been studying his team’s next opponent.

Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference: “They [Arsenal] control many things and many aspects of the game, [and] the spirit for many years not winning make that boost and the solidarity in other aspects.

“They control when they defend deep, when they hide, build-up, long balls, second balls, so many good things.

“In the Champions League they won all their games in the group stage and just drew against [Bayer] Leverkusen, so it will be a big challenge to see our level.”

Arsenal have become Man City’s bane in recent years

The way Arsenal play clearly causes Guardiola problems, because Man City have not beaten the Gunners since April 2023, which was almost three years ago.

Something different must be done this time around in order to come up with the answers which are needed to break down Arteta’s side.

Man City almost managed a victory at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season, but the home team struck back in stoppage time.

Will City finally get over the line on Sunday, or will Arsenal be a thorn in Guardiola’s side yet again. Soon enough, all will be revealed.
