- Thomas Tuchel has named five Man City players in his England squad
- Some of these players have not been regular starters for their club
- This is a big chance for them to show what they can do.
The England national team have named five Manchester City players in their squad for their upcoming fixtures in March.
International football will return next weekend after a lengthy break and England have two friendlies in preparation for the World Cup this summer.
The Three Lions will take on Uruguary at Wembley Stadium next Friday, before welcoming Japan to North London four nights later.
Thomas Tuchel has named his squad for the matches and five Manchester City players have been included.
Five Manchester City players have been named in the England squad
James Trafford has made the squad, despite making only 12 appearances this season. However, as there are five goalkeepers, he is unlikely to start anyway.
John Stones and Marc Guehi have both been included and perhaps the pair will partner up in the centre of England’s defence at some point during the games.

Nico O’Reilly also makes the cut and he has been listed as a defender, indicating Tuchel will utilise him as a full-back rather than a midfielder.
Finally, Phil Foden is in the squad, a player who will be looking to impress for his national team after spending plenty of time on the bench at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City’s players have a point to prove
It is interesting that more than half of the Man City players to be included in Tuchel’s latest group are not actually nailed-on first team starters.
This leaves them with the opportunity to show that Pep Guardiola is wrong to be leaving them out.
Despite this, a place in the squad is no guarantee of an appearance, so the likes of Trafford, Stones and Foden might not get a touch of the ball outside of training.
