Manchester City face competition to keep Jeremy Doku as Champions League club enter the picture

Jeremy Doku’s Manchester City contract is running down and a European club are looking to take advantage.

Back in January, Jeremy Doku bagged two assists against Galatasaray in the Champions League, but he picked up an injury that same game.

The winger was kept out of action for a month, but he made an appearance off the bench against Nottingham Forest last week.

Since then, Doku has started against both Newcastle United and Real Madrid, which shows how important he is to Manchester City.

However, the 23 year old’s contract expires in 2028, meaning this summer will be crucial for knowing whether he plans to remain at the club in the long-term.

Jeremy Doku is attracting interest from Atletico Madrid

According to Team Talk, Man City are set to discuss a possible new deal for Doku this summer. Despite this, the player has concerns about his role and he wants clarity over his future before making any sort of commitment.

Those close to Doku are aware that interest could materialise if uncertainty over his situation continues and this is now reported to be the case.

Atletico Madrid are said to be among a number of clubs keeping tabs on Doku’s ongoing circumstances at Man City.

The La Liga team are planning for an overhaul to their forward line this summer, while other teams have also made enquiries regarding the winger.

Man City will not want to lose Doku

Clearly, Doku is viewed by Pep Guardiola as one of his team’s top peroformers and he will not entertain the idea of a sale.

If Man City can convince Doku to sign a new contract, that should put any rumours about an Ateltico move to bed.

Even with the arrival of Antoine Semenyo, the Belgian is still starting games, so he should not be worried about his place in the first-team.
