Manchester City will not be looking to sell Erling Haaland, but another European club are interested in what his future in England looks like.
Erling Haaland signed a record-breaking nine and a half year contract at Manchester City last year, tying him to the club until 2034.
However, the Norwegian has still been the subject of transfer rumours in recent times, with teams clearly liking what they see.
Haaland has already bagged 29 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances this season, so it makes sense that he is attracting interest.
Barcelona want to sign Erling Haaland in the future
It seems to be generally accepted that Haaland will not be departing Man City in the immediate future, but things could change a few years down the line.
Barcelona know this and are interested in one day securing the goal machine. As a result, their presidential candidate Victor Font has planned ahead by meeting with Ferran Soriano and Hugo Viana of Man City, according to Reshad Rahman.
The purpose of their meeting was to ensure Barcelona are prioiritised if the Sky Blues ever look to sell Haaland.
However, the La Liga heavyweights have also been linked with ex-City striker Julian Alvarez. If he moves to Spotify Camp Nou this summer, it seems unlikely they would look to sign Haaland any time soon, due to financial reasons.
Erling Haaland’s agent has responded to the Barcelona rumours
Despite the Barcelona rumours, Haaland’s agent has spoken out to rebuke any speculation linking the striker with a move away from Man City.
She told El Chiringuito TV: “We have a lot of respect and admiration for Barcelona, but there hasn’t been any contact whatsoever — with Erling Haaland or with Barcelona’s management, regarding potential transfer targets”.
“Also, because the player renewed his contract a few months ago, he’s very happy at Manchester City”.
“Everything is going very well for him and we really have nothing to discuss about a transfer when everything is so good at City.”
Haaland will not be leaving Man City any time soon
Since Haaland has committed himself to Man City, there is no reason to offload the 25-year-old unless he loses his footballing abilities, which is not going to happen for many years.
Even if Haaland were to become unhappy, the ball is still in Man City’s court due to the tremndous length of his contract.
Therefore, any talks of a potential sale feel premature, as he will not be leaving the Etihad Stadium for the foreseeable future.
