Manchester City suffer setback in Felix Nmecha pursuit after latest transfer development

Manchester City have been linked with Felix Nmecha, but Borussia Dortmund are about to make any potential exit far more difficult for the player.

Felix Nmecha was released by Manchester City five years ago and this is a decision the club have lived to regret.

Indeed, Man City have made contact with Nmecha’s representatives in order to re-sign the German international this summer.

However, while City allowed Nmecha to depart for free, a hefty sum will be required to tempt Borussia Dortmund to part ways with the star.

Felix Nmecha is about to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund

Even if Man City do make a large offer to sign Nmecha, the chances of securing his signature have become increasingly unlikely due to a new development.

According to Sky Sports Germany, there has been a breakthrough in negotiations with Dortmund’s sporting director and Nmecha’s new agents from the Transfer Table.

Therefore, the Bundesliga club are offering Nmcecha a new deal which will last until 2030, raising doubts over a summer move.

Dortmund were aware of interest from several top Premier League clubs, so it was important to offer the 25-year-old a new contract as soon as possible.

Man City will sign a midfielder this summer

Nmecha may not be the midfielder City add to their squad based on this update, but it is still important to get someone in who can boss the middle of the park.

Bernardo Silva is expected to leave Man City, so bringing in a replacement is almost bound to happen. The question is not about whether they will, but on which player they decide to bring in.

Of course, there is still the chance Man City will continue pursuing Nmecha, but there should be more options available to them as the summer transfer window draws closer.
