Manchester City are making progress towards signing a player who used to be part of the club’s academy setup before he became a European superstar.
Felix Nmecha has made his career in Germany, initially playing for Wolfsburg before joining Borussia Dortmund, where he has made more than 100 appearances.
However, the 25 year old started out at Manchester City, playing for both the under-18s and the under-21s before making just three appearances for the senior team.
Since then, Nmecha has gone on to be a huge success and this has got his former club thinking about the possibility of a reunion this summer.
Man City have made contact with Felix Nmecha’s representatives
According to Sky Sports Germany, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have had Nmecha on their radar for some time and have already contacted his management.
Borussia Dortmund risk losing a number of players in the summer transfer window and it is believed the midfielder could see a new challenge, causing City to monitor any developments.
Despite this, the Bundesliga club are keen to offer Nmecha a new deal. In fact, discussions between sporting director Sebastian Kehl and the player’s represetnatives have already taken place.
Nmecha’s current contract expires in two years
With Nmecha’s contract expiring in 2028, Dortmund need to tie him to a new deal if he is to remain at the club.
It has been repotrted that they are prepared to make salary adjustments, but Man City should have no problem matching whatever Dortmund offer.
Ultimately it is down to the German international to decide whether he wants to stay put, return to City or move to a different club entirely.
