Gianluigi Donnarumma names three players who helped him get settled at Manchester City

Gianluigi Donnarumma has had to adapt to a new city and league this season, but three players have been key to helping him make Manchester his home.

Fans in Italy were shocked when Gianluigi Donnarumma made the decision to depart AC Milan in favour of Paris Saint-Germain, but the goalkeeper has never looked back.

Donnarumma delivered four years of solid performances for the French outfit and ended his stay there by winning the Champions League.

After seemingly being frozen out by Luis Enrique, the shot-stopper signed for Manchester City and he is having a strong first season in the Premier League.

However, adjusting to a new country and different division is not an easy thing to do and the Italian has relied on the support of his teammates.

Donnarumma has already proven himself to be one of the world’s greatest goalkeepers, but moving countries for a second time is never straightforward.

Thankfully, the Man City dressing room has been very welcoming to the 27-year-old, including three players in particular.

He said during Pep Guardiola’s pre-match press conference in Madrid: “Thanks to all of them, Bernardo [Silva], Ruben [Dias], Rodri, every single leader has welcomed me very well and with their arms open.

“They’ve allowed me to feel at home. It was not easy to change everything, the city where I lived, the team I played for.”

Donnarumma has a wealth of experience to offer

Even though Donnarumma is still relatively young for a goalkeeper, he has plenty of experience playing at the highest level of European football.

Donnarumma has won the Champions League and the Euros, so he is doing what he can to pay his teammates’ kindness forwards by helping Man City’s young stars develop.

“I feel very well and we have many young players, I’m trying to help them as much as I can and in situations where I can help them out,” Donnarumma continued.

“I’m young but it’s true that I have experience. I think I can give advice to players starting to face these kinds of games. We have amazing players and great names that have won many titles and young players that are growing and giving us a hand through the season.
