“We are exactly where we want to be”: Ruben Dias draws positives from Manchester City’s season

Manchester City have recently suffered a blow in the Premier League title race, but Ruben Dias is still happy with his team’s progress.

Wednesday last week was a day to forget for Manchester City, as they failed to defeat Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

However, City responded to this setback with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle in the FA Cup on Saturday, booking their place in the quarter-finals.

As well as this, the Sky Blues have a Champions League tie against Real Madrid fast approaching and a Carabao Cup final to play later in the month.

Ruben Dias is happy with Manchester City’s current position

There has been a lot of discussion about Man City this season and not all of it has been positive, especially when their Premier League performances are addressed.

Despite this, Ruben Dias believes City have consistently improved during the season and are now in a very good place.

He told DAZN Portugal: “There is a lot of talk and a lot of noise, but at the end of the day that noise counts for very little.

“I think maybe in the first three games there was a phase of adaptation that we had to react to in a very positive way. From then on, the team has been strong and consistent.”

“I hear a lot about some kind of shift at some point in the season, but I don’t remember any moment this season being bad in any sense.”

Dias added: “I think we have progressed consistently from the beginning. We still have a lot of potential to reach and I think we are exactly where we want to be.”

Man City still have lots to play for this season

The Premier League table may not look so good now, but Man City are not out of the title race yet, with nine matches still to play.

Also, there are other competitions on offer and Dias has touched on Manchester City’s upcoming clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

He joked: “It already feels like a league game [because Man City play Real Madrid so often]. But it is the Champions League. At the end of the day, when we are kids, we all dream of playing in the Champions League to play matches like this.”

“You approach them with happiness. Because this is the level where you want to be. As a team and individually, to show your work and be very good, excellent, at the highest level”, he stressed. And it’s not the first time he speaks about that mentality.”
