Manchester City suffer enormous blow to Premier League title hopes in Nottingham Forest draw

Manchester City have fallen even further behind Arsenal after dropping points against Nottingham Forest in what has been a disappointing night at the Etihad Stadium.

Expectations were high tonight as Manchester City took on Nottingham Forest, with the home team very much expected to seal a victory.

City’s recent performances have been shaky, but they were still doing just about enough to secure three points each game.

However, tonight has been a different story, with Man City dropping points for the first time in more than a month.

Manchester City held to a draw by Nottingham Forest

Man City were the team on top for much of the first half, although it took 31 minutes for Antoine Semenyo to find the breakthrough. The winger who scored City’s only goal on Saturday was on target once again after striking the ball brilliantly following a Rayan Cherki cross.

Nottingham Forest surprisingly equalised 11 minutes after the start of the second half thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White, but Rodri headed home from a corner kick just minutes later.

It seemed like the hosts would go on to win from this point, but Elliot Anderson came up with an excellent effort to put his team back on track.

Semenyo struck the top of the bar with a free kick in extra time and Savinho had a close range effort cleared off the line with the last touch of the game. However, there was no final moment of magic, handing Forest an unexpected point.

Man City have fallen further behind Arsenal in the Premier League

With Pep Guardiola’s men dropping points against Forest, they now trail Arsenal by seven points, as the Gunners defeated Brighton & Hove Albion.

This means even if City win their game in hand, there will still be a four point gap between themselves and the league leaders.

Ultimately, City have scraped two victories in the past couple of weeks and they must accept the fact that tonight’s performance was not good enough.
