Why Manchester City will defeat Nottingham Forest in Premier League – score prediction

Both Manchester City and Nottingham Forest need a victory on Wednesday, but this fixture is only going one way.

Manchester City will lock horns with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night in a game where both sides could use a victory, but for very different reasons.

Pep Guardiola is chasing a seventh Premier League title and a win for Man City would continue to place pressure on Arsenal.

Forest also have much to play for, as their fourth manager of the season Vitor Pereira seeks to guide them further away from the relegation zone.

Here is our score prediction for the encounter which will kick off at half past seven at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Manchester City will defeat Nottingham Forest

It is hard to predict anything other than a Man City win based on the form of both teams leading into this fixture.

Forest are keeping things close in their matches and have narrowly missed out on results multiple times, but they are the losing team so often.

City on the other hand are a side who know how to win, even when the overall performance has been below the usual standards.

Man City will not run away with a victory

While Man City should really be coming out on top, their performances against Newcastle and Leeds were not the most convincing.

Both teams missed chances which could have changed the results, while City never really looked that dangerous in front of goal.

Hopefully Erling Haaland will be back from his short-term injury and Jeremy Doku will definately be an option after coming off the bench on Saturday.

Even then though, it feels like City will probably only score twice, especially since Nottingham Forest are not too bad at the back.

Defending is what Man City do best

Of course, some of Man City’s clean sheets have been earned when the opposition have missed good chances to score, but their defending has been strong irrespective of this.

There is a reason both Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marc Guehi have been nominated for the club’s player of the month award and another clean sheet could be on the cards.

Wednesday night should ultimately see Man City get a victory which will not be anything groundbreaking, but it will be comfortable enough.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Goalscorers: Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo.
