Former Manchester City player’s son signs for City Group club

An ex-Manchester City defender’s son has joined a Middle Eastern club which belongs to the City Football Group.

Many players have come from abroad to play in the Premier League only to switch teams after a few years. In fact, there was a period when French players in particular played for Arsenal, before moving to Manchester City.

This was the case with both Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri, who both spent six year spells at the Etihad Stadium after making the move from North London.

Bacary Sagna would end up following in their footsteps three years later, before also departing Man City in 2017.

Lots of time has passed since then and now the retired right-back has a son of his own who has just signed his first senior contract.

Bacary Sagna’s son joins City Group club

Sagna kicked off his managerial career last year, taking charge of Banaat FC, a women’s team who play in UAE.

The former Man City star’s son is residing in the same country and has just joined Al-Jazira, who are owned by the City Football Group

Elias Sagna is 17 years old and will not be playing alongside the likes of Nabil Fekir and Mohamed Elneny and his father has high hopes that he will be successful in the future.

Elias Sagna is eligible to choose from four different countries

Sagna told Ladbrokes that his son has a wide variety of choices when it comes to representing a national team. The youngster is eligible to play for England, France, Senegal and UAE, so he will have to make his decision carefully.

Those at Man City may well be keeping an eye on Sagna’s progress as if he does well at Al-Jazira, the Premier League team would already have an increased chance of signing him.

However, for now the teenager will be given space to develop away from the spotlight of English football, as he looks to follow in his father’s footsteps.
