Pep Guardiola provides update on Jeremy Doku’s Manchester City return

Pep Guardiola has revealed what chances Jeremy Doku has of being fit to feature in Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash against Leeds United.

Manchester City have an all-important away trip to make this Saturday and Pep Guardiola will want as many players available as possible.

Last week the manager revealed Savinho had returned from injury and he later went on to be named in the matchday squad to face Newcastle.

However, Guardiola confirmed that Jeremy Doku was still unavailable for selection after he picked up an injury against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Jeremey Doku is back in Manchester City training

Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s visit to Elland Road, Guardiola has confirmed some positive news about Doku.

While it remains to be seen if the winger will be first enough to appear against Leeds, he is back in training after a number of weeks on the sidelines.

Guardiola said in his press conference: “Yesterday make the first training session,” after being asked about Doku.

Addressing when the 23-year-old will be available to play, Guardiola responded: “I don’t know, we’ll talk with the doctors and physios.”

Doku could be ready to play Nottingham Forest on Wednesday

With only one or two training sessions under his belt, Saturday could be too early for Doku to make his return to the Manchester City squad.

Although this is not what Guardiola would like, there is still a very good chance his player will be match fit when City host Nottingham Forest next Wednesday.

The Citizens coped without Doku last time out against Newcastle and the goal will be to do just as well against Leeds.
