Manchester City have been tracking two Nottingham Forest players, but they could have to fight off their cross-city rivals in order to complete both deals.
The summer transfer window is still months away, but Manchester City are preparing for a potential rebuild.
Pep Guardiola has benefitted from the recent form of Nico O’Reilly, but Bernardo Silva could leave Man City as a free agent, as his contract expires in a few months.
As well as this, Rodri’s City contract ends next summer, meaning his days at the Etihad Stadium are numbered unless the club are able to tie him to a new contract.
With Manchester City facing the possibility of losing two of their most important players, adding strength in midfield could be a priority when the window reopens.
Manchester City are keeping tabs on Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White
According to the Daily Mail, Man City are tracking both Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, Manchester United are also monitoring Gibbs-White’s situation and hold a ‘strong interest’ in Anderson, adding some competition to any potential transfer.
One advantage City have is that the Red Devils have a new pay scale which could hinder their efforts to sign the Forest duo, especially if they are provided with more attractive options.
Manchester City already beat their rivals to the signing of Antoine Semenyo in January and would surely be the favourites to win another transfer race this summer.
Notingham Forest could get relegated from the Premier League
No current England international wants to be playing in the Championship, which could hand clubs a major advantage in their pursuits of Anderson and Gibbs-White.
Nottingham Forest are currently 17th in the Premier League and have a real chance of going down at the end of the season.
If this were to happen, Anderson and Gibbs-White would be expected to depart, even with Evangelos Marinakis’ tough negotiating skills.
