Micah Richards has confirmed his stance as being ‘Man City through and through’ after a viral CBS clip indicated he had a soft spot for their Premier League title rivals.
Micah Richards spent most of his playing career at Manchester City and in total he made 245 Premier League appearances for the club.
However, he grew up supporting Arsenal and depending on who you ask, there are rumours going around that he still has a secret soft stop for Mikel Arteta’s team.
These claims have gained momentum after a recent CBS clip showed Richards seemingly upset when Arsenal conceded during their recent Premier League clash with Wolves.
Micah Richards reaffirms his stance towards Manchester City
Micah Richards has recently appeared on The Rest is Football, where he has sought to explain his reaction to Arsenal blowing their lead against Wolves.
According to the defender, the video which has been widely shared online does not provide the full context of the situation.
Richards was not unhappy because he still supports Arsenal, but as a result of having Gabriel in his Fantasy Premier League team.

He told Gary Lineker: “I actually think I really need to address this. I was on CBS the other day and Arsenal, we had it on the phone, we had the score or what not.
“I had Gabriel, captain, you know what fantasy football is like. And when they conceded, you’re devastated. They’ve clipped that up, Carragher’s going ‘Oh why you sad for’? They didn’t show the whole context of the video and I’m getting absolute pelters from Man City.”
Richards continued: “What started as a joke… I liked Arsenal when I was a kid. When I went to Manchester City, I’ve been Man City through and through ever since.
“I think the term I use, ‘I support Man City on air and Arsenal off air, which was on League of their own on a format where we’re having fun and people are actually taking that as gospel, like I don’t bleed Man City, it’s madness to me.
“If City are going for all competitions, I want Man City to win. The whole Arsenal thing, yes, I liked them as a kid, but the joke’s gone too far now… I don’t understand.”
Richards was wrong in his reaction
Anyone who plays Fantasy Premier League knows how much it takes over people’s lives, but this should not come at the expense of remaining loyal to a football team.
Richards has explained himself, but ultimately he still seemed disappointed by a result which benefitted the club for whom he is an official ambassador.
The Premier League title race is going to be a close call and the ex-City defender should want every result to go in the way of Pep Guardiola’s team, regardless of his FPL captain.
