Ally McCoist has made a sensational claim about Arsenal’s squad which will not go down well with Manchester City supporters.
Manchester City are in a three horse race for the Premier League title, but ultimately it is expected that either they or Arsenal will be triumphant in May.
Pep Guardiola’s team have suffered some setbacks, such as the 2-2 draw against Tottenham, but it looks like they are on the right path towards victory.
Then there is Arsenal, who have had a stronger season overall, yet have recently recorded some underwhelming results which could help City take over the top spot.
Ally McCoist makes huge claim about Arsenal
Manchester City have had some brilliant squads over the years, but Arsenal’s current group of players is the best the Premier League has even seen, according to Ally McCoist.
The player-turned-pundit believes this is the key difference between Arsenal and Manchester City and it could be the reason the Gunners go on to win the Premier League.
He told TNT Sports: “What’s the difference between Arsenal and City – the squads. Arsenal might in my opinion have the strongest squad I’ve ever seen in English football.
“Might not be the best team in English football I’ve ever seen, I think it’s the best team this season, but in terms of the squad, it might be the strongest squad I’ve ever seen.”
Manchester City could leave McCoist with egg on his face
McCoist’s claims are bound to draw disagreements and the best way to prove him wrong would be for City to go and win the Premier League.
If they are able to defeat Newcastle, a league triumph is very much a possibility for a Man City side who are very good in their own right.
There have arguably been better City squads in the past than the current Arsenal one and proving they are still better than Mikel Arteta’s team even now would be superb.
