Manchester City are likely to lose their director of player development due to an enticing offer from a Championship club.
Coaches and club employees come and go over time and some departures have the potential to cause real disruptions.
This would certainly be the case if Pep Guardiola leaves Man City, something which has been rumoured ahead of contract expiration next year.
It appears there will be a departure at City in the near future, with Leicester City keen on one of their members of staff.
James McCarron will leave Manchester City
According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, James McCarron is set to depart from his role as the director of player development at the City Football Group. This is expected to take place soon, allowing him to become the new sporting director of Leicester City.
McCarron has been associated with Manchester City’s ownership group for the best part of a decade, serving as head of sports science and medicine at the club for three years.
He then spent four seasons as sporting director at Lommel, Man City’s sister club from Belgium, before returning to the Premier League side last summer.
McCarron has a big task on his hands at Leicester
Clearly McCarron is eager to become a sporting director again, but it seems strange he would want to join a team who are currently fighting for survival in the Championship
Leicester City recently received a six-point deduction due to a PSR breach and they currently sit in the relegation zone, two points from safety.
The task at hand is certainly a big one, as relegation to League One would be a big shock for the Foxes, who lifted the Premier League trophy only a decade ago.
