One ex-Manchester City forward is leading his current team’s promotion push, despite being just a month away from celebrating his 40th birthday.
Manchester City have had some memorable strikers over the years, from the great Colin Bell to to their record goalscorer Sergio Aguero.
Even now, the club possess Erling Haaland, who is one of the greatest strikers in world football at this point in time.
Of course, there are players who made less of an impact at Man City, yet this did not stop them from finding success later in their careers.
Edin Dzeko is scoring goals for fun at Schalke
Claiming Edin Dzeko had no impact during his days in Manchester would not be fair at all, even if he was not on the level of players like Aguero.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international registered 100 goal contributions in 189 games at Man City, which is pretty impressive. However, he was struggling in front of goal towards the end of his spell in the Premier League, before his eventual move to Roma.
Despite this, Dzeko came good for the Italian outfit and even now at the age of 39 he is still making a difference for his team.
Dzeko joined Schalke in January after a disappointing spell at Fiorentina and he already has three goals and two assists to his name after just five appearances. Better still, his new side are top of Bundeliga 2 and could make it back to the German top flight next season.
Dzeko has had an impressive career
Even if Dzeko had not reignited his career at Scalke, he would still have a lot of achievements to reflect on.
The goal machine is a four-time footballer of the year and won the award at Manchester City in 2011. He is also a two-time Premier League winner with the Sky Blues and before accomplishing that he had already won the Bundesliga when he played for Wolsburg.
What a journey it has been for City’s former star and with the way things are going, there could be a few more chapters which are yet to be written.
