Gianluigi Donnarumma has shared the key attributes required in order to be successful as a goalkeeper.
Being a goalkeeper is harder than it looks and no one knows this better than Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is one of the world’s best.
The Italian has shown just how good he can be, winning the Champions League with PSG last season before joining Manchester City.
Donnarumma has played his part in Pep Guardiola’s team and is a key reason they are hot on the heels of Arsenal in the Premier League table.
Donnarumma reveals why a goalkeeper must be brave
Man City recently sat down with Donnarumma as he shared the qualities a goalkeeper must possess in order to succeed.
The 26-year-old has insisted that bravery is a key part of the job and that he often puts himself in positions of danger in order to keep his team’s goal secure.
Donnarumma said: “The main thing for a keeper is to give everything for the team and not concede, and there might be situations where your health might be at risk but you do everything for that net behind you, to prevent the ball from going in.
“For a goalkeeper the main thing is to play without fear.”
Donnarumma will want to keep winning trophies at Manchester City
Bravery often comes with rewards and Donnrumma will be looking to ensure this is yet another season where he lifts silverware.
The Naples-born talent won four successive Ligue 1 titles during his time at PSG and he has also triumphed in multiple domestic cup competitions.
City are aiming to win the Premier League title, but before then, they have the chance to lift the Carbao Cup with a victory over Arsenal on March 22.
Donnarumma will certainly be preparing to do what he can in order to ensure his impressive run of success continues, beginning with the forthcoming Wembley showdown.
