Exclusive: Pundit suggests using Mahrez in swap deal to land Kane

Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez might be used in a transfer swap deal, claims former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

City have been heavily linked with signing three-time golden boot winner Harry Kane from rivals Tottenham Hotspur in this summer’s transfer window.

A £200million price tag, however, seems like too much money for City to part ways with, which only suggests that they could offer one or two players to be used as a makeweight.

Mahrez has been an integral part of this City squad ever since he signed back in 2018, but the temptation of a potential move for one of the best strikers in the world could put his future at the club at risk.

“Maybe Mahrez could be one of those that could be used in a makeweight deal. I think there are several players that Tottenham would take from Man City who would play at Spurs” the ex-Leeds United player exclusively told Read Man City.

“I’m sure there’s some business to be done with Harry Kane and I think that will unfold in the next few days.

“Then Tottenham need to get him out of the building as quickly as they can.”

Man City have a big decision to make with their approach to signing Harry Kane before the August 31 transfer window deadline.

The England captain is not going to be sold easily as we have seen so far, which means it is likely that some City players may be in danger of losing their places in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
