Manchester City take on Liverpool this evening in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie at Anfield, with Pep Guardiola’s side hoping to produce a solid performance to carry forward into next week’s second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola’s side fell to a 4-3 league defeat back in January at Anfield, the scene of City’s only league defeat this season, but they will be hoping to have learned from their mistakes last time out.
Having come through 5-2 winners on aggregate in the round of 16 against Switzerland’s FC Basel, City remain one of the heavy favourites to go all the way and win the competition which sees the final held in Kiev, Ukraine.
With seven goals scored the last time the two sides met at Anfield back in January, tonight’s tie promises to be an exciting and unpredictable one.
