Manchester City recovered from their disappointing draw with Everton by dramatically beating Bournemouth 2-1 in added time at the Vitality Stadium.
It was a thrilling game of football, with chances aplenty for both sides. The hosts dominated the opening stages of the game and deservedly took the lead when Charlie Daniels hit home a stunning half-volley off the crossbar and in to send the Vitality into raptures.
City reacted quickly to going behind and within eight minutes they managed to equalise. After taking a quick free-kick, David Silva threaded a great pass to Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian tapping the ball past Cherries keeper Asmir Begovic.
After the goal, the visitors continued to dominate for the rest of the half and probably should have added to their tally before the break. Both teams had big chances to gain the advantage, with Nicolas Otamendi and Joshua King each hitting the post for their respective teams.
King could have won it for Bournemouth when he went through on goal after dispossessing debutant Benjamin Mendy, but his resulting shot was saved well by Ederson.
Moments later, Raheem Sterling was the hero once again for City as his shot deflected in off Andrew Surman to seal a big three points for the visitors. The Englishman was then sent off for an odd reason involving celebrations with the away fans. Despite that, City walked away victors and Pep Guardiola’s men remain undefeated this season and move, temporarily, to the top of the table.
