Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has admitted that his debut season at the club has been below par, but believes that he has improved and will proved his worth at this summer’s European Championships and under Pep Guardiola next season.

Sterling joined the Sky Blues from Liverpool last summer in a deal worth in the region of £49m but has made just 23 Premier League starts for City this season, less than expected when he first arrived at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking after the win against Australia, the England international thinks that he has mentally improved despite not scoring and assisting as many goals as he would have hoped to at the beginning of the campaign.
I have learned quite a bit going into City for my first year and I think I’m improving,

I probably haven’t scored as many goals or assisted as many goals as I wanted to, but I’m definitely improving mentally.
Sterling has been rumoured to face the axe from the City squad if he does not prove himself under the incoming Guardiola next season, and could yet miss out on Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for the European Championships in France this summer.
