Talented Croatian linked with City move

City’s pursuit for some of the most talented youngsters in the world continues this week, as the rumour mill begins to heat up with January drawing ever closer. On this occasion, Croatian protégé Ante Coric is the latest teenager to be linked with a switch to City, and the world leading CFA, with a deal said to be ‘very close’.

The 18 year old is currently plying his trade in his homeland with Dinamo Zagreb, famous for producing some of the very best Croatian talent to grace the world game, has represented his country at every possible youth level. He is also a veteran of over 50 first team appearances for Dinamo. Coric played four times in this season’s Champions League group stage, featuring against both Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

However, City are not alone in their interest for the Croat attacking midfielder. Sport Witness Football cite that both Real Madrid, and Porto – if the price was right – have interest. Dinamo themselves though, believe selling to an English club would impart a greater fee, thus making City favourites at present.

Any move that does come involving Coric would likely see the youngster hone his talents in academy programmes or out on loan, with many quarters comparing his eventual potential to that of Luka Modric. The significantly lower current price point than the one Modric commanded is certainly a major attraction for prospective suitors.
