Manchester City have been handed an injury boost with the news that Argentine Pablo Zabaleta could potentially be in contention for the Liverpool game, report the official club website.
The reports had been that the City full-back was looking at around a month on the sidelines, making this a welcome boost for City who, along with the returns of David Silva and Zabaleta’s compatriot Sergio Aguero, will have a strong squad when City next play in the league, where they face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
With Samir Nasri set to be back in training and Fabian Delph and Gaël Clichy back in the squad, only Ivorian Wilfried Bony would be on City’s usually busy injury list after sustaining a suspected hamstring injury against Aston Villa last weekend.
Having had a stop-start time of it so far this season, Zabaleta appeared to have aggravated the injury which had kept him out of action previously when City played Crystal Palace earlier in the month.
“I’m doing OK, progressing well and trying to be fit for the visit of Liverpool, ” Pablo told the official website.
Having only appeared six times this season as a result of knee and ankle problems, the defender has had his usual starting berth at right-back filled by Frenchmen Bacary Sagna, who has impressed immensely since the seasons start.
