Reports: City battling for ‘new Ashley Cole’

Manchester City are one of four Premier League teams interested in acquiring the services of Walsall left-back Rico Henry, according to the Mirror.

The 18-year-old has been likened to Ashley Cole by manager Dean Smith, who believes that he can go on to big things.

He has made 25 appearances for the Saddlers, and is capable of playing at both left-back and on the left-wing. He has been trialled in central midfield and central defence this season, however his most effective positions are on the left.

His future in the West Midlands has been seemingly sealed until 2018, as he signed a new contract in October, however, this could just mean a premium will be required for any club who wishes to move for him.

He has two goals to his name in his career, and a single assist.

He is yet to receive an international call-up at youth level for England, despite the persistence of his manager in insisting that he is worthy of a place in the squad.
