Man City team news v AEK Athens
City will be without Antoine Semenyo, with Maresca confirming that the winger is expected to miss around eight weeks after suffering a knee injury late in Saturday’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich.
Semenyo underwent a scan on Sunday and, while the injury was not as serious as initially feared, Maresca does not expect him back until around December.
There is more encouraging news over City’s other fitness concerns from the Ipswich game. Erling Haaland took a blow to his foot and Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly also required attention, but Maresca said ahead of the AEK match: “The rest are more or less okay.”
Haaland therefore has a chance of featuring, although his condition will be assessed ahead of kick-off. The Norwegian has scored all four of City’s Champions League goals so far this season.

UEFA confirmed the appointments ahead of the third round of league-phase fixtures.
First competitive meeting with AEK
Tuesday will be the first competitive meeting between City and AEK Athens.
City do, however, have an unbeaten record against Greek opposition, having won three and drawn one of their four previous European matches against clubs from the country without conceding a goal.
Those games came against Aris in the 2010/11 Europa League and Olympiacos during the 2020/21 Champions League.
The AEK fixture will also be a landmark occasion for City, representing their 150th match in the European Cup and Champions League proper.
Maresca’s side have won all seven of their Premier League matches this season but will be looking to get their European campaign back on track following last week’s defeat by PSG.
